Our club president:

Our club president is Ken Smith. After teaching mathematics in Southern Rhodesia, Ken had a career in Information Technology with IBM UK. Ken lives in Brackley.
Ken commented: ”
Over the last year our activities have included organising Brackley Wine Festival and supporting Brackley Beer Festival and the Motor Cycle Festival by providing volunteers to help with fundraising. We have also manned street collections including support for Marie Curie. On the international scene I am keen to further our support for Rotary's End Polio Now campaign. If you would like to know more about our work, please contact us by using the above link (under the About Us heading).”

Caribbean Hurricane Fund:
We organised a market place collection for the Caribbean Hurricane Fund in October 2016 resulting in a £500 remittance to the fund.
Recognition for Rotary's international achievements:
Funded by many worldwide Rotary clubs, The Rotary Foundation was named in the top 10 charities changing the world in 2015 by the American news network CNBC. This reflects Rotary's material funding to eradicate Polio and other global challenges. Brackley Rotary Club has supported The Rotary Foundation for many years.

Brackley Wine Festival:

Our 9th wine festival was held in the function room of the Crown Hotel, Brackley on 29 April 2017. The festivals have raised over £6,000 in support of Rotary charities.
Eight merchants attended the event including members of the Association of Small Direct Wine Merchants.

Club organiser, Rotarian Trevor Davies commented: "It is pleasing that merchants and visitors are prepared to travel great distances to be with us. The festival is an opportunity to explore many wines ensuring they are to your taste before committing to buy."

Photographs from the festivals are included on the festival website.

Mithuluni Water Project:

Our long term project to bring water to the Kenyan village of Mithuluni was successfully completed in March 2016.
Together with the Nyali family in Brackley, we raised £11,000 for the project. This was supplemented by grants totalling £20,000 from Rotary District and Rotary International funds.
An exploratory borehole was drilled and water was found at a depth of 180m. A wellhead, pumping station and storage tanks were installed together with almost 2km of piping into the village.
Previously villagers had a daily journey of over an hour to dig for water in a dry river bed. Schoolchildren often undertook this task, loading canisters on donkeys.
It was pleasing to receive coverage of the project in Rotary's national magazine.
